Lamb Burger Flatbread Sandwiches

This was so good I even surprised myself! lol  It was awesome to taste the combination of heat and cool.  The lamb burgers had a spicy kick that was cooled later on by the tzatziki avocado sauce.

Lamb Burgers:
  • 1/2 lb ground lamb
  • 1/2 lb fresh ground sausage pork
  • 1 tbsp grated ginger
  • 1 tbsp grated ginger
  • 1tbsp chopped fresh mint
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • 2tsp chili pepper flakes
  • 1 tbsp Underground Spice Market's Greek Grill Spice Blend
  • 1 lemon zested
Combine all ingredients and separate them into 5 equal shaped balls.

The original recipe was taken from (Mediterranean Lamb Burgers) which I tweaked to my liking.

Tzatziki Avocado Sauce:
  • 1 avocado, diced
  • 10 mint leaves (chiffonade)
  • 1 lemon zest
  • 1/2 lemon juiced
  • 1 individual cup of plain greek yogurt
  • 1/2 European cucumber grated
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp chili pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
Combine all ingredients.

The original recipe was taken from (avocado tzatziki).  I tweaked it of course to my liking.  i kept the avocado in chunks instead of puree, I think it's best to taste the avocado for great texture and evolving taste from mint yogurt to fresh avocado. 

To assemble the Lamb Burger Flatbread Sandwich in order:
  • 5 ea flatbread
  • tzatziki avocado sauce
  • lamb burgers
  • bibb lettuce
  • 1 tomato sliced
  • 1/2 european cucumber thinly sliced
  • 1/4 red onion thinly sliced 
  • 4oz crumbled feta cheese

I really love dishes like this. I think I could have lamb and tzatziki sauce for a solid week and not get tired of it.
You have brought a few twists to my standard, the pork/lamb mix in the meatballs and the inclusion of avocado in the sauce. Your pictures really do entice. Both of these are well worth a try in the kitchen-yum!

Thank you so much. My family really loved this, and we are not used to eating Mediterranean dishes, it was a great way to try to get them used to the idea :)
